And breathe… Christmas is here and while the goose is getting fat we at Funny Women are deliberating over the first heats of our Stage Award. We have had the most entries ever and had to add on heats to see all the women who wanted to take to our stage and make us laugh. And laugh we did, making this part of the process very difficult.

We have been all over Britain and Ireland, seeing new talent in Scotland, Manchester, Dublin, London, Brighton, Wolverhampton and Exeter. I say this every year but the standard has been very high and while I’m not looking forward to the elimination process we’re embarking on, I am looking forward to our Regional Finals and seeing some faces again.

In other Awards news I am delighted that our Comedy Shorts category is being partnered with none other than Comedy Central To think in 2014 I was telling a skeptical Awards Producer that we should have a short film category for the Awards and now my comedy baby is up with the big guys! It’s seriously all to play for now if you have entered our Comedy Shorts award and if you haven’t, we have extended the deadline to January 31st, so get filming!
